Velma I. Phenicie

Edinburg - Velma Phenicie, 92, passed away at UPMC Jameson on August 12, 2024. She was born on November 6, 1931 in Edinburg, PA, to Howard and Velma (Matthews) Sloan.

Velma worked as a Bookkeeper for First National Bank and was a member of the Edinburg Methodist Church.

She Loved spending time with her family and was an avid baker and cook. Velma was also a diehard Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Velma is survived by daughter, Holly K. Schaefer, of Edinburg, sister, Worthetta Hunter, and Granddaughter, Sloan Schaefer.

Her husband Homer Phenicie preceded her in death on December 2, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard Sloan Jr., sister, Edith Gagliano, and great granddaughter, Octavia Waters.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 19, 2024, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Terry Cunningham Funeral Home, Bessemer, PA.

A funeral/burial services will take place immediately following visitation. She will be laid to rest in the Mahoning Presbyterian Cemetery.
