Terry J. “Hannibal” Hayes, 69, of Bessemer, PA, passed away peacefully from a long illness at home on June 21, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born April 6, 1957, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of Jack and Lourine (Henry) Hayes. He married Candice “Kandi” Saylor Simkins on June 18, 2022, after a 25-year relationship.
Terry spent his life in the automotive field, devoted to the work he loved—repairing and rebuilding cars and motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons. He also enjoyed camping and the companionship of dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Candice; sons Mark Hayes, and Joseph Hayes; and his step-daughter Amanda Beedy and her husband Tim, and step-son Robert Simkins; brother John Hayes and his partner Thomas Otto; sister Pam Barber Hayes and her husband Robert Barber; and grandchildren Alex, Skylar, Vivian, Atlas, Lily, and Gunner.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 1–3 p.m. at Terry Cunningham Funeral Home, 203 Oak St., Bessemer, PA, with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m.
A celebration of life will be held on August 1, 2026, with further details to be announced.
