Ruth M. Bluedorn

Ruth M. (Ferlan) Bluedorn, 95, of Austintown, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2026, where she was joyfully reunited with beloved family and friends who were waiting for her.

Ruth was born on July 26, 1930 in Augsburg, Germany. She was a devoted daughter to Friedrich and Anna Stocker who preceded her in death. She had one brother, Fritz Stocker, who she remained close with throughout the years. They shared daily phone calls until his death.

In 1947 she married American soldier Milan Ferlan, Jr., who preceded her in death. She came to America in 1949 and became a United States citizen on November 20, 1950. Ruth ran Ferlan’s General Store in Bessemer, PA for many years, and later worked at Shop N Save, Giant Eagle, and Dollar Tree in New Castle, PA. She retired at the age of 80.

In 1985 she married Charles Bluedorn, who survives. They enjoyed attending church together and spending time with family. For the last few years, they resided at Victoria House Assisted Living in Austintown, Ohio.

Ruth was a loving mother to Nancy Ferlan Joynson, who also preceded her in death.

Ruth had many hobbies, but amongst her favorites were gardening, crocheting, and hosting family and friends for meals. Ruth always set a beautiful table for any occasion and crocheted countless blankets for everyone she knew.

She is survived by her family, who cherished their time with her, including granddaughter Marcy (Matt) Clark, of Youngstown, OH, her precious great-granddaughter Kimberly Clark (Marco LaRocca) of McKeesport, PA, and was “Aunt Ruthie” to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She also held the honorary title of Grandma, Nana, and Aunt to many others.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 4:00pm to 6:00 pm and a funeral service will take place at 6:00pm following visitation at Terry Cunningham Funeral Home, 203 Oak St. Bessemer, PA 16112.
