Hillsville, Mary Madelene Gagliano
October 6, 1924 - January 6, 2025
It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved aunt, Madelene Gagliano, 100, of Hillsville, Pennsylvania. Madelene passed away peacefully at Jameson Nursing Center on October 6, 2025.
Madelene was the daughter of the late Marianna (Micco) Cicerchi and Angelo Gabriel Cicerchi. She married Frank Gallo shortly after graduation from Bessemer High School but tragically, she became a young widow when he was killed in a plane crash while stationed in England during World War II.
Madelene went on to operate a grocery store in Hillsville before joining People’s Bank in Bessemer. With her strong work ethic, Madelene rose quickly to Bank Manager, a position she held for many years until her retirement.
Madelene had a huge heart and was quick to assist anyone in need. She was also devoted to her animals and, over the years, she raised a collie, some poodles, and rescued a few cats. Madelene also had many interests: bowling, playing cards, dancing, and watching game shows, to name a few.
Survivors include her younger sister, Marianna Cicerchi, 98, of Denver, Colorado; niece Fredda (Bill) Hall of New Kensington; great-nieces Jennifer Petty and Karen Petty of Hillsville, great-nieces Elda (Matt) Yee of Florida, and Joslyn (Jason) Yohe of Maryland. She is also survived by many relatives across the country and in Italy.
She will be buried with her husband, Army Sgt. Frank Gallo, at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
The Family thanks all her many caregivers in her home, at Clen-Moore, and at Jameson Nursing Center.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Terry Cunningham Funeral Home in Bessemer, PA.
