James Robert “Jim” Trotter, 89, of Enon Valley, PA, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 4, 2023, in his home surrounded by his beloved wife and family.
Jim was born on April 7, 1933, in Beaver, PA, the son of the late Robert and Mary Lou (Braham) Trotter. He and his family moved to Enon Valley in 1942, where Trotacre Farm was established. Jim was a 1951 graduate of Mount Jackson High School, where he met his bride, Mary Lou (Howard) Trotter. They were married on November 7, 1953, and celebrated 69 years of a blessed marriage.
Jim was a dairy farmer. He, alongside his children and family, grew and sustained the family farm. Jim was a lifetime member of the Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders Association, where he served as the business manager for 26 years. Jim had many friends, from all over the country, which whom he cared for and shared his passion for dairy farming with.
Jim took pleasure in driving ponies. Throughout his years, he raced and exhibited his horses in many events and shows. He was the chairman of the International Trotting and Pacing Association. Jim enjoyed hitching up his horses to drive friends and family around the farm.
Jim was a member of Westfield Presbyterian Church where he served the Lord for many years. During his years, Jim served as a faithful Elder and Trustee.
Jim was a friend to all, and his life was enriched by his many friendships. He was often found telling a joke and having a good laugh.
Jim was the patriarch of his loving family and is survived by his cherished wife, Mary Lou; son Robert (Marte Lovich) Trotter of New Castle, PA; daughter Debra (David) Liggett of Bessemer, PA; son David (Jill) Trotter of Enon Valley, PA; sister Mary Ann Beatty of Beaver Falls, PA; brother-in-law Don (Diana) Howard; of Fort Lauderdale, FL; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy Trotter.
Family and friends may call on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 4:00- 6:00 at Westfield Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Bobby Griffith officiating.
