Anne P. Tonya

Anne P. Tonya passed away peacefully at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown on February 22, 2026.

Anne was born on June 23, 1933 in Hillsville, PA, a daughter of Joseph and Theresa Perman Crnarich. She graduated from Struthers High School in 1951 and married her sweetheart and dancing partner Joseph "Joe" Tonya on July 14, 1951. They enjoyed 72 years of marriage until Joe's passing on May 8, 2023.

Anne was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown and served on the Pierogi Committee for over 25 years. She was also a former member of the Slovene national Benefit Society, Lodge 776.

Anne enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, playing cards, playing bocce and polka dancing.

Anne leaves her daughter, Cathy (Ernie deceased) Kalenits; son, Stephen (Linda) Tonya and daughter-in-law, Judy Tonya (David deceased). she also leaves four grandchildren, Justin (Amber) Tonya, Louise Crespo (fiance, Anthony Mancini), Brandon (Nicole) Tonya and Lauren (Stephen) Atwood. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren, Mikayla (Ryan) Lutsch, Private First Class Jackson Tonya and Jonathan Tonya, Ave, Zoe and Gia Crespo and Melinda Tonya.

Besides her parents, her husband Joe and son David, she was pre-deceased by her sister, Theresa Caggiano, and brothers John and Albert Crnarich.

The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and entire staff at Masternick Memorial as well as Akeso Health for the care provided to Anne. Also, Dr's Santuccio Ricciardi, Antoine Chahine, Gary Young, and Shawn Lewis for their compassionate care over the years.

A private family service was held to honor Anne's life.
