Donald Merrill

Private services were held Friday, April 10, 2026, for Donald Merrill, 91 of Hillsville, who passed away peacefully at Beeghly Oaks Nursing Home on April 7, 2026.

Born in Fairmont, West Virginia on February 6, 1935, to Calvin and Blanche (Parker) Merrill, Don moved to this area as a boy. He attended Poland Seminary High School. He married Anna Marie Pacillo on November 19, 1955. They were married 56 years before her death on November 7, 2011.

He began his career at Republic Steel and worked there for 38 years before retiring as Foreman. He then worked at Carbon Limestone for another 10 years before officially retiring in 1999.

In his younger days, Don was a talented dancer. He loved county music and polkas and was an avid gardener and an award winning wine maker. He loved going to the casino.

He is survived by his children, Donald Merrill Jr. (Jody) and Diane Merrill of Boardman and Lori Stone (Woodrow) of Canfield; three grandchildren, Chip (Kristy) Stone of Indianapolis, Sammy (Amanda) Merrill of Oakton, VA, and Maria (Molly) Merrill of Cincinnati; three great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Burial was held at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
